- The trick to really good sunset/shadow photos like my latest? Saturation, saturation, saturation, saturation, and... you guessed it... contrast. Kick the saturation up to unnatural levels, and if everything else is in shadow, it doesn't get that "I colored this with the Crayola 8-pack" look, but all the latent colors in the sky come out.
