Infrared

Sun Oct 21, 2007, 6:23 PM
Just got my IR filter today, and I've taken it for one spin already. My goal: to make IR photos that transcend the "ooh, look, pretty white tree!" cliche. It's a tough one.

its tough to get past the white tree cliche... best thing you can do is channel mix it down and make the white tree into something totally out of left field like this [link] where the leaves were actually green but i mixed it down and made everything look more realistic but gave it more of a fall feel instead of the "look at the pretty white tree" feel. It is most certainly a science... and if you wanna really go off beat dont make the sky blue. and dont take the remaining red out of the trees, just set your white balance and leave the sky that dingy brown... i have noticed some of the unmixed versions turning out quite eye provoking. anyway i will quit blabbing! happy experimenting!
